dear blogging friend,

Have it ever occured to you that since there are so many free Wordpress themes available, why are people still selling wordpress themes? What’s the difference between premium themes and standard themes? If you’re new to blogging, you got to get this right from the start. First, standard Wordpress themes are free and most wordpress themes site give you free access to download.

However, some sites forbid you from changing the footer and design of the theme. Basically, free blog theme does one thing. And that is to promote the designer of the Wordpress theme. Most Wordpress theme designers gave away free themes to promote their premium blog themes. You can expect top quality layout and design. Some even when on to add in the component of “Reseller rights and Private label rights”.

Frankly, I don’t like the idea of private labels rights. If you’re the designer for any special Wordpress theme, you got to guard you asset. By making it exclusive and non-resellable, you can be sure to maintain a higher selling price. This basically works the same way as our offline retail industry. The rarer the item or design, the more it’s going to fetch.

I  would rather position myself differently then the rest. This is a way to stay on top of competition and every blog theme stay unique. So for new blogger, if you intend to make a name for yourself, do get a premium theme which you can customized anyway you like it to weave your unique position in the blogsphere.
