Wordpress is the Blog of Choice

July 20, 2007 :: Posted by - cyberboy :: Category - Why Wordpress?

Wordpress offers two very essential features that Blogger does not yet support.

First, Wordpress can be set up blog feed directories every time you make a post and automatically ping all the RSS. This is a powerful feature, which will quickly bring in internet traffic as well as develop back links to your blog almost instantly. Operating a Wordpress blog automatically does all the work for you is marvelous, so that you are not concerned with having to build a regular website, indexing the site into the search engines, provide back links to improve your listings, and then drive web traffic to your site.

Secondly, Wordpress allows the use of Categories. To improve the structure of your website for the search engines and humans alike, categories are a very powerful way to do this.

For instance, your website topic is Widgets. Categories for each widget, such as green widgets, black widgets and one for orange widgets are creatable.

You can choose which of your categories your post belongs to when you add posts to your blog. Your blog will now archive your past posts, by Category as well as their chronological order.

Therefore, if guests to your website are interested in black widgets, all your posts on black widgets are easily located. There is no need to search an entire archive to locate them. Using Categories with the Wordpress makes it so much easier.

Categories are also search engine friendly. When you apply Categories to your blog, there is a link displayed on each of your web pages leading to your categories.

Consider this: would you prefer to be listed for black widgets as one of the main keywords of your website, or would you rather be ranked as #1 in the search engines for August 2007?

Eventually, there will be hundreds of pages on your website with links to black widgets, orange widgets and green widgets, when using Wordpress Categories. All these back links to your keywords can result in much higher ranking in the search engines.

You can easily create an RSS feed for each of your categories, which is a nice feature. Then when you post in your blog, will be pinging the Blog/RSS directories for each feed!

Evaluate this to traditionally building a new web page. Keep in mind that the search engines may not find your new page right away, as it may be a month or more before it is actually indexed and begins to draw in web traffic. It is also may be a long time before you rank in the first page position for your keywords.

It is amazing how easy all this is to do when working with a well-structured Wordpress blog with Categories enabled!
