Common Mistakes Made By Blogger

July 31, 2007 :: Posted by - cyberboy :: Category - Blog Rant

Having spending much time on blogging, I came to realised some of the common mistakes that I have made as well as thousands of blogger out there.

I hope you will spare me 5 minutes of your time. By putting a small change to the way you post onto your blog will yield big return.

Mistake #1: Post only on home page

I know this might sound ridiculous to you but i have seen some blogger posting every single new post on their home page. Yes all on a single page.
Well, this might look impressive but the ’spider’ would not eat it as it’s hard to swallow.
Always have each new post entry on a new page.
Your home page should consist of many blog teaser or half posts linked to the rest of your full blog post. Usually, i will insert the phase “Read more..” And always place it at the place which you feel emotion is intense. Example: The secret to making $1000.00 is to “read more…”. I admit to making this mistake as well.

Blog Frequency And How Much Should I Blog

July 30, 2007 :: Posted by - cyberboy :: Category - Blog Frequency

Well, this is a (default) question I get most of the time from student.
How much often should you write and submit you blog post is up to individual.

If you have reader following your story, make sure you get them into the mood of visiting you daily. Your job is to hold your reader attention as long as you can. (this is so-called creating a repeated traffic)

If you’re running short of time and cannot update your blog often, it would best you plan out your blog post and use the scheduling function inside wordpress.

The key here is to be consistent. Once I started to blog daily, I must stay to daily one post. If you’re posting once a week, then stick to once a week. Or if you only post on friday night, make sure every friday night.

Wouldn’t it be good to have someone expecting you to post something they must read. Daily or weekly? This is the part which most blogger miss out. They post when a thought fly into their mind or when they ate something nice today. Come on, if you’re going to be a professional blogger, you need to be discipline.
